About Our School

Mayfield School is a contributing primary school for New Entrant to Year 6 students. The school's roll currently sits at about 95 students. We are proud of the wide cultural diversity of our school community.

Mayfield School has five classrooms (Nikau, Kōwhai, Rātā, Tōtara and Pōhutukawa), a library, and a spacious, outdoor environment (including playgrounds, fields, netball / basketball courts, a bike track). Students can participate in Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups as well as a range of sports including netball, swimming, athletics and rugby. Students enjoy helping in our school garden where they can learn all about sustainability. In 2025 we opened our new whānau space, designed for hui with our parent and caregiver whānau. Every Wednesday afternoon at 2:00pm we invite all our school community to come down for a hot drink and to share ideas with our Tumuaki. 

Each Thursday morning, a group of dedicated volunteers run our school breakfast club. All students are welcome to come along to this. Each week day we have parent volunteers who help to manage our school crossing alongside our senior students who carry out the important task of road duty for our school.
