Attendance

At Mayfield School we believe that every child needs an environment and opportunities to develop their natural talents, pursue their interests and achieve to the very best that they can be. This is a collective effort by the whole team at Mayfield School in partnership with whānau and caregivers. We work hard to realise and support the aspirations of all whānau for their child.

Attending school everyday is key to every child having the ability to learn and to be successful in their learning. Our expectations are that your child is attending school each day. We understand that when they are sick, that children may need to have a day at home. But, when they are better children need to be back in class learning. Alongside academic learning, schools offer all children the chance to develop and master their social skills. They learn to interact with their peers, build interpersonal connections and develop confidence that will carry them through to their college years and beyond. School offers the chance to build lifelong skills. Daily attendance at school is important and expected, to give our tamariki the chance to develop the skills to be confident and caring adults in the communities in which they live.
